Zephyr becomes largest owner in Swedish offshore wind project portfolio
Zephyr Renewable AB has entered into an agreement to become the largest owner of a portfolio of offshore wind projects previously owned and developed by Statkraft. All projects in the portfolio are located in Sweden.
Zephyr will be responsible for the further development of the wind power projects in question, which include the Bothnia Offshore Sigma and Lambda North areas in the Gulf of Bothnia. Applications for permits for these projects have already been submitted and are currently being processed by the County Administrative Board of Gävleborg County.
«We at Zephyr are very pleased with this acquisition. The portfolio has great potential, and Zephyr’s expertise in offshore wind power will now be put to good use in the further development of the projects,» says Simon Landqvist, Project Development Manager for Offshore Wind at Zephyr.
Final takeover of the shares is conditional upon approval of the FDI notification.
With this acquisition, Zephyr strengthens its position as one of the leading players in offshore wind development in Sweden.
Sweden is facing a sharp increase in demand for electricity, mainly driven by industrial transition and electrification. Offshore wind has unique potential to meet this demand and will be a crucial part of the solution for Sweden to succeed in its green transition.
